The Mumbai Cricket Association
officials met on Monday and put in place some plans ahead of Sachin Tendulkar’s
farewell Test against the West Indies from November 14 to 18.The decisions need
to be officially ratified by Sharad Pawar on Tuesday but they are good as a
done deal.
For starters, Sachin Tendulkar wants
a painting as his farewell gift. So according to The Indian Express report, the
MCA will send an artist to his home today, and the batsman will choose what
kind of portrait he wants. Tendulkar also wants 500 tickets for his last
match. So the MCA will allot 200 in the pavilion and 300 in the North Stand.
PTI Each of those tickets with also
have Tendulkar’s photo and his 51 Test century scores. The MCA will also place
cutouts of Tendulkar in and around the Wankhede stadium.
The MCA officials also announced
that tickets will cost Rs 250 per day and the five-day passes will cost Rs
1,000. Another report also mentioned that Tendulkar’s mom will attend the
match. His mother, Rajni, has never seen him play at a stadium, but will make
an exception for the final match.
Tendulkar’s mother is in a
wheelchair and the MCA is building ramps to ensure that her access to the
President’s box is unimpaired. Meanwhile, the Cricket Association of Bengal’s
plans for the 199th Test are even more elaborate.
Tendulkar is likely to be greeted by
thousands of spectators wearing his mask or the waving of placards with slogans
eulogising the batting genius at the Eden Gardens gallery as he steps onto the
iconic ground next month.
Plans are afoot to release thousands
of balloons bearing his pictures at the start of play on the opening day or
subsequent days at the Eden Gardens, the CAB is also toying with the idea of
distributing vests bearing Tendulkar’s pictures among the spectators.
