MAHARASHTRA BOARD CURRICULUM TO INCLUDE CHAPTER ON SACHIN TENDULKAR

Children in Maharashtra are now going to learn about the "God" of cricket, the very own Sachin Tendulkar. The school education minister Rajendra Darda on Monday announced that the government was looking into the options of adding Tendulkar in school syllabus for children of the state to get inspired.

Though, this is not the first time that students in the state will have to read up on the life history of a cricketer before their exams. Before Tendulkar, there have been the likes of Chandrakant Gulabrao "Chandu" Borde and the 'little master" Sunil Gavaskar who had found themselves in the pages of school syllabus.

Both these cricketing heroes were mentioned in the Marathi language books. A chapter from Gavaskar's autobiographical book "Sunny days" which has been translated into Marathi has been inspiring school students from Maharashtra.

The Maharshtra government at present has asked the syllabus deciding committee of the state board to look into the teething issues like which curriculum the Sachin chapter would be included in, whether it would be Marathi or history textbooks that Sachin would be included in. They also have to decide which standard of students would get to read up on the Indian sensation who retired from all forms of competitive cricket last weekend.
