Sehwag thanking to god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar for BMW-7

Former India's blasting opener Virender Sehwag thanking to god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar for gifting him a BMW 7 series. Sehwag posted a pic on his Twitter account thanking his long time Indian team mate and opening partner for the car which is a BMW 730 Ld, The cost of the car in India is a whopping Rs 1.14 crore.

“Thank you @sachin_rt paaji and @bmwindia .Grateful for this !” said Sehwag in his caption. Sehwag and Sachin were India’s opening pair for a fair bit of their careers, most notably in the 2003 ICC World Cup. The two are known to share a warm relationship with. At the time of Sehwag’s retirement from the sport, Sachin had said that he is a “true champion” and that he was an absolute joy to play alongside. Sehwag has repeatedly stated that Sachin was an inspiration to him while making his way to the Indian team and a good friend off the pitch.

Sehwag on the other hand, recently called Sachin a man “who could stop time in India” while wishing him on his 44th birthday. While Sachin remained an integral part of the Indian squad until the time he retired, Sehwag faded away with the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma taking up his opening slot. His inconsistent form with the bat in the latter half of his career also did not help and thus, Sehwag retired from cricket without a proper send-off.

‘SACHIN TENDULKAR WAS ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE TO BOWL TO’: BRETT LEE

Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee says that he enjoyed the challenge of bowling to the great Sachin Tendulkar during his career as well as other batting legends such as Brian Lara.

He adds that unlike other batsmen, Tendulkar was never someone who Australia would try to sledge as the tactic would have proved fruitless.

Talking to us at an event where he was announced as a Global Hearing Ambassador for Cochlear, he began by recalling being hit for six by Chris Gayle at the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 at The Oval.
"I think I bowled a slower ball to Chris Gayle which he picked up and hit me out of the park," he recalled.

"It went into a school so they ended up getting the ball back about 15 minutes later!"
However, Lee has many other happy memories with the ball, even if he did play in an era when Tendulkar, Lara and others were in their pomp.

"Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen, those types of batsman you are bowling to, change the game in the space of an hour," he said, adding Gayle and recently dropped Australian all-rounder Shane Watson to that category.

But it was Tendulkar who he most enjoyed bowling to.
"Sachin Tendulkar was always my favourite to bowl to, only because of who he was.
"He played 200 Test matches, and he's a guy that no one ever says a word to. You might go in and say a few words to other batsmen but to Sachin you don't say a word, it's respect.
"If you say a word, he's going to get 400!

"I've played in an era among batting greats like Tendulkar, Brian Lara, all those greats. It's been a lot of fun."

Sachin Tendulkar surprised his followers on social media on Saturday. “In Great Haseley Oxfordshire. Missed the last bus, can anyone give me a lift,” wrote the batting icon on Twitter, attaching a three photographs of him at the bus stop.

As expected, there were responses galore. One of his Twitter followers said, “even God misses a bus.” Another said, “unlucky bus driver.” There was a volunteer too, who wrote: “Just seen the post. I can come down in 1 hr! :)”

According to Wikipedia, “Great Haseley is a village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire. The village is about 4.5 miles (7 km) southwest of Thame.”

The ongoing 20-day tour, which started last week, involves specialised cricket training and practice sessions with reputed cricket coaches, competitive matches with other schools and cricket clubs in England, and a lucky chance to an indoor session at Lord's.

CHILDHOOD COACH CREDITS SACHIN TENDULKAR FOR MS DHONI'S SUCCESS

From a marauder to a finisher, Mahendra Singh Dhoni's journey as a batsman makes for an interesting study. For someone who burst onto the scene in 2005 with a swashbuckling 148 against Pakistan in Visakhapatnam, the Dhoni of present believes in playing percentage cricket and staying at the crease till the end.

His childhood coach Chanchal Bhattacharya credits batting legend Sachin Tendulkar for the change in mindset. "As a youngster, if Dhoni scored 10 runs, it would contain at least one big hit. But that is the Dhoni of old. Now he is a man who likes to take calculative risk. Yes, he will still hit the bad ball and take risks, but he has also understood the importance of defending and taking singles. And the man behind this is none other than Tendulkar. He taught Dhoni the importance of planning the innings to put pressure on opposition teams," he told Mail Today.

Interestingly, the general notion is that Dhoni and former India captain Sourav Ganguly don't belong to the same page. But Bhattacharya squashes that rumour as well.

"Dhoni realises the role Ganguly played in making him the name he is today. Had Ganguly not provided him the opportunity to bat at No. 3 against Pakistan that day, who knows if we would ever have a Dhoni? These are all rumours. He has utmost respect for Dada," he said.
