Sachin Tendulkar, who is down with a wrist
injury, sweated out at the Mumbai Indians net session on Thursday though
he remains a doubtful starter for the second IPL qualifier against
Rajasthan Royals here on Friday.
His team-mate Dwayne Smith said the senior India batsman has been
recovering well from the left wrist injury he sustained last week. The
injury kept him out for two league games as well as the first qualifier
against Chennai Super Kings in New Delhi.
“Hopefully, he will play against Rajasthan. He is recovering well,” Smith said at a press conference.
At the nets, Tendulkar bowled medium pacers
for about 45 minutes. He was fully active on the field and also played
football with his teammates.
Tendulkar however did not bat at the nets, to avoid aggravation to his injury.
In a media statement on Wednesday, Mumbai Indians did not rule out Tendulkar out of the remainder of the tournament.
“The normal recovery time for this injury is around three weeks, however
rehab results in the past nine days have shown reasonable improvement
and we are hopeful to get him back in action as soon as possible,” the
statement had said…
