It is a common sight during cricket matches these days to spot a laptop in
the dressing room. But it was not the same a decade ago and when the computer
made its presence in the change rooms, Sachin Tendulkar was stunned!
Tendulkar, who was in Bangalore on Saturday (August 18) for the Karnataka State Cricket Association’s (KSCA) platinum jubilee celebrations, revealed how he was surprised to see a laptop in the dressing room in the year 2003.
Speaking on how cricket has changed over the years, Tendulkar recalled his days at the start of his India career, narrating this incident. The Master Blaster also said how seniors had different (better) clothing than the youngsters then.
“When I came first, even the clothing was different in the warm-up sessions. The seniors had fantastic clothes. And we juniors would have different dress,” Tendulkar, who made his international debut in 1989, said.
He continued: “Later came laptops and I wondered what’s that doing in the dressing room. I wondered how this technology would help us learn cricket, but over a period of time figured out its importance. It helped us plan our innings.
“ Tendulkar, who retired from One Day Internationals last year, is on the verge of completing a world record 200 Test appearances.
When asked how he has maintained to stay on top at the international level, he stressed on being passionate about the game since the time he start at the age of five.
