If you’re a cricket fan, you can’t
possibly forget February 24, 2010, for it was on this very day that batting
maestro scored the first ever double century in ODI history.
The knock, played at Captain Roop
Singh Stadium here, came against one of the better bowling attacks of the
world, and reiterated Tendulkar’s undying appetite for runs.
However, few would know that apart
from punishing training schedule and some serious skill, one more factor played
a part in Sachin’s stupendous knock that day. Archana Purohit, a lesser known
Gwalior resident is Sachin Tendulkar’s sister whose wishes, Sachin believes,
work as a lucky charm for him.
This manager had met Tendulkar in
1999 during a match against New Zealand, and requested the Master Blaster to
speak to Archana over the phone.
An elated Archana requested to offer
him ‘Tika’ by meeting him personally, for which Tendulkar agreed. Later, the
Little Master shone in the game, and made her his sister.
Tendulkar makes it a point to meet
Archana whenever he is in Gwalior, and attributes a portion of his success in
the historic city to her blessings.
