When students of Sankara Educational Institutions
wanted to honour Sachin Tendulkar on his retirement, they did so with a
simple “Thank You”. And, their joy knew no bounds when the little master
sent a “Thank You” in return for their gesture.
Because,
though the students wanted to tell a simple “Thank You”, they wanted to
“tell” that in a big way. So they mounted a huge white sheet on a board
and placed it at the Fun Republic Mall for three days from November 14
so that interested public too could convey their wishes to the little
master.
The students did not stop with collecting the
messages and signatures. They sent the message filled sheet to the
former cricketer. And, the response that came from the former cricketer,
acknowledging their effort, has made them happy. Mr. Tendulkar starts
the letter by thanking the students for the “warm sentiments” expressed
through the 500 signatures, while offering a “humble apology for the
delay in replying”.
The little master admits that he
has been rendered speechless and remains deeply touched by the gesture.
He has requested Nithya Ramachandran, Deputy Joint Secretary of the
Sankara Educational Institutions, to whom the letter is addressed, to
convey his “thankfulness and sincere gratitude to everyone (who
signed)”.
Sharing his sentiments on being conferred the Bharat Ratna, Mr. Tendulkar says that he is “humbled with the honour”.
